Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory

Long Island, New York

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is an outstanding scientific institution with an illustrious history in biology and genomics. The Simons Foundation is pleased to support Dr. Michael Wigler’s investigation into the genetic component of autism.

Dr. Wigler’s lab was responsible for the development of “ROMA” (Representational Oligonucleotide Microarray Analysis), a method for discovering genetic differences between “healthy” cells and cancer cells. Dr. Wigler will now apply this technique, which detects mutations and lesions in DNA, to the study of the genes at play in the development of autism.
