The Simons Collaboration on the Global Brain hosts a postdoc-focused NYC-area group meeting every other month to bring together postdocs interested in neural coding and dynamics, to discuss ideas and data. Our postdoc meetings are now virtual! Register for the NY-area meeting .
The speaker this month are:
Jennifer Bussell
Columbia University
The Desire to Know: Non-Instrumental Information Seeking in Mice

ViDA 2020 will focus on the cutting-edge discoveries in dopamine research from a broad range of approaches, from molecular to systems and computational neuroscience. Join us for three days of dopamine research with over 20 invited speakers as well as poster sessions, parallel symposia, and social sessions to bring our community together.

The Neurodata Without Borders: Neurophysiology project (NWB) is an effort to standardize the description and storage of neurophysiology data and metadata. The purpose of the hackathon is to bring the experimental neurophysiology community together to further adoption and the development of NWB, the NWB software libraries, and the progress of the scientific workflows that rely on NWB. Members of the community will exchange ideas and best practices for using NWB and the libraries, share NWB:based tools, surface common needs, solve bugs, make feature requests, brainstorm about future funding and collaboration, and make progress on current blockages. The event will also enable NWB developers and users to interact with each other to facilitate communication, gather requirements, and train users. More information and registration is available here.

UPDATE:
COVID-19: It is with considerable regret that we announce the cancellation of the upcoming CSHL meeting on Neuronal Circuits because of ongoing concerns about the coronavirus outbreak. In an effort to prioritize our participants’ health while still promoting scientific exchange, we are planning to host a virtual meeting, including oral sessions via Zoom and digital "poster sessions", in it's place. Please check your email for updates regarding the virtual meeting, refunds, and other important details.

This CSHL meeting will allow for neuroscientists working on neuronal circuits in a wide range of model organisms, from invertebrates to mammals, to come together and discuss their research. Contributions from research, centered on neuronal circuits involving anatomical, physiological, theoretical and behavioral approaches, will be encouraged. Abstract Deadline: January 24, 2020

The Simons Collaboration on the Global Brain hosts a postdoc-focused NYC-area group meeting every other month to bring together postdocs interested in neural coding and dynamics, to discuss ideas and data.
The speakers this month are:
Adam Calhoun
SCGB Postdoctoral Fellow, Princeton Neuroscience Institute
Identifying states and sensorimotor transformations that shape behavior
Jennifer Bussell
Associate Research Scientist, The Mortimer B. Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute, Department of Neuroscience, Columbia University
The Desire to Know: Non-Instrumental Information Seeking in Mice
- SCGB
The goal of the workshop is to bring together researchers interested in developing executable models of neural computation/processing of the brain of model organisms. A major aim of the workshop is to explore the integration of various sensory and control circuits in higher brain centers. A Fruit Fly Brain Hackathon is being conducted in conjunction with the workshop. Workshop participants are welcome to attend the hackathon.
