Title: Towards an autism microbiome consortium study

Abstract: In light of the major advances in discovering genetic links governing ASD, the underlying causal mechanism has remained elusive. In recent years, there are a growing number of studies highlighting gastrointestinal symptoms of ASD subjects and putative gut microbiome links. Our objective is to quantify the existing unknowns surrounding ASD by reanalyzing omics datasets in the public domain. We will mitigate the problem of batch effects through the development of a Bayesian case-control differential abundance algorithm in order to identify key ASD associated microbes that have been detected across multiple studies.
