The computing group provides infrastructure and resources to support the scientific activities of the computational centers and our external collaborators. The data-sets associated with computational centers projects have several attributes in common that provide significant computing challenges – they are large, growing and generated at multiple institutions. Analysis of these data-sets often requires the development or deployment of new technologies. In addition to the development of new algorithmic approaches, our mission includes storage and data handling system support, support for access to processing resources both internal to the computational centers and to distributed resources, and access to specialized infrastructure. Working closely with the software group we aim to develop and deploy a broad range of solutions necessary to meet the diverse demands of the computational centers’ research mission.
