The software group supports the algorithmic and code development activities of the computational centers and our external collaborators. We most often work with colleagues who have a prototype code in hand and are facing the coupled challenges of scaling up to handle more data and out to exploit parallel resources. We are especially interested in “appropriate” technology solutions that improve robustness and scalability while keeping close to the initial code base, eschewing modifications that might lead to greater performance potential but necessitate significant alterations, rendering the new code less accessible to its originators.
We collaborate closely with the computing group to develop and deploy the computing infrastructure necessary for carrying out the computational centers’ research mission.
