Opportunity
The Simons Collaboration on the Global Brain (SCGB) invites current SCGB investigators to submit applications for targeted collaborative awards. We will consider proposals for awards up to five (5) years in duration.

How to Apply: Applicants may submit a first-stage collaboration proposal through proposalCENTRAL (https://proposalcentral.altum.com/default.asp). Applications may be submitted through 5:00 PM Eastern Time January 30, 2017.

Please coordinate submission of the first-stage collaborative proposal with the appropriate officials in accordance with institution policies. Please also refer to proposal documents located in proposalCENTRAL for further information and requirements.

For applications with principal investigators (PIs) at different institutions, the first-stage collaborative proposal need only be submitted by the PI designated as the spokesperson PI.

First-Stage Collaboration Proposals must include (all templates and forms provided in proposalCENTRAL)

  • Research narrative that defines the scientific goals of the research, 2–4 pages including figures and references
  • Statements of the roles and responsibilities of each PI (0.5 pages per PI)
  • Designation of spokesperson PI
  • A brief project leadership plan, including data-sharing plans among investigators, publication and intellectual property policies, and procedures for resolving conflict
  • Bio sketches of all PIs and collaborators
  • Technical abstract (250 words)
  • Proposed budget summary (both annual and 5-year total amounts) for each PI and institution
  • Brief budget justification (2–3 sentences per PI)

Applicants will be notified about the status of their first-stage collaborative proposal by March 15, 2017. Investigators on approved collaboration proposals will be invited to submit more information on their individual contributions to the approved collaborative project(s) and a more detailed summary budget. Awards will be given directly to individual PIs for their contributions to the collaborative project(s). For further information, please review all documents located in proposalCENTRAL.
