Columbia University, the Flatiron Institute in New York City and the Max Planck Society in Germany have created a partnership, called the Center for Nonequilibrium Quantum Phenomena.

This collaboration aims to understand, control and manipulate the uniquely useful properties of quantum materials. The new center links these three distinguished organizations, which will work together to harness these materials for a large set of applications, including quantum computing, sensing, cryptography and other technologies not yet imaginable.
