Squibb Professor in Molecular Biology, Emeritus Professor of Molecular Biology,
Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics, Emeritus
1995 Nobel Prize Winner in Physiology or Medicine, Princeton University

Eric F. Wieschaus is the Squibb Professor in Molecular Biology, Emerita and Professor of Molecular Biology and the Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics, Emerita, as well as the 1995 Nobel Prize Winner in Physiology or Medicine. Much of his research has focused on embryogenesis in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster, specifically in the patterning that occurs in the early Drosophila embryo. More recent work has focused on the cell biological mechanisms that control cell shape change and movement during gastrulation, and on quantitative biophysical measurements of morphogen gradients during early development. Wieschaus is a HHMI investigator, a member of the National Academy of Sciences (USA), a foreign member of the Max Planck Society, and the 1995 Nobel Laureate for Medicine.
