Kaela Evans

University of California, Los Angeles

Kaela Evans recently earned her bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from the University of California, Los Angeles. She is particularly interested in understanding how processes within the brain affect learning and behavior. Her previous research involved studying associations between single neuron activity in the ventral lateral orbitofrontal cortex and learning about stimuli with differing delays before reward and probability of resulting in a reward. As an SCGB Undergraduate Research Fellow, Kaela will be working in the Churchland Lab with Max Melin and Felicia Davatolhagh. She is excited to expand her scientific skills and knowledge about learning-related changes in neural activity under their mentorship.

Outside of neuroscience research, Kaela enjoys participating in community service, especially mentoring youth from underserved communities. She is currently developing a program called Nurturing Neurons, a youth life coaching program based on methods used in cognitive behavioral therapy.
