Nicolas Bouché, Ph.D.

Tenured Researcher, French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS)

Nicolas is an astrophysicist who tries to understand what is the role of gas flows around galaxies by confronting observations and simulations.

He spent the last 10 years studying gas around galaxies using background quasars and led a large observational campaign with MUSE, the largest IFU on the VLT. He also studies dark matter in galaxies and developed advanced tools to measure rotation of distant galaxies. He is involved in IFU instrumentation projects, such as BlueMUSE, he is the co-investigator for the IFU Harmoni on the ELT. He obtained his PhD. from the university of Massachusetts in 2003, and after obtaining a Marie-Curie Fellowship, he has been a CNRS researcher since 2011.
