Pablo Araya Araya

Pre-Doctoral Fellow, Galaxy Formation, CCA, Flatiron Institute

Pablo joined the Center for Computational Astrophysics in 2022 to participate in the foundation’s pre-doctoral program under the supervision of Dr. Chris Hayward. Pablo earned his B.Sc. at Universidad de La Serena (Chile). Currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. at the Universidade de São Paulo in Brazil, where he also obtained his M.Sc. degree. Pablo’s research is focused on constructing mock catalogs from galaxy formation semi-analytic models. This type of data allows emulating several existing and forthcoming observations, which has multiple applications in extragalactic astronomy. In particular, he uses mock catalogs to study galaxy cluster progenitors, i.e., protoclusters.
