Vladislav Loktev, B.S.

Vladislav Loktev joined the Center for Computational Astrophysics as a pre-doctoral fellow in January 2023. He will be collaborating with Flatiron Research Fellows Joonas Nättilä and Vladimir Zhdankin to conduct turbulence simulations of hot accretion flows. The goal of the project is to integrate Coulomb scattering processes into their existing kinetic plasma code. Loktev is currently completing his Ph.D. in astrophysics at the University of Turku, where he is a member of the High Energy Astrophysics group led by Juri Poutanen. His research focuses on X-ray polarization of accretion flows. Lately he’s been working with data from the IXPE mission, which has made significant contributions to the field of X-ray astronomy.
