David Fisher, Ph.D.

Indiana University

David Fisher is a professor of Mathematics at Indiana University, Bloomington. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Chicago in 1999 under the supervision of Robert J. Zimmer.

Fisher’s main research interests involve geometry, dynamics and lattices in Lie groups. He is particularly interesting in dynamics of large group actions and coarse geometry. His recent work involves applications of strong property (T) to both coarse dynamics and geometry.

Fisher is a Fellow of the AMS and has been a Radcliffe Fellow, a Simons Fellow and an NSF Postdoctoral Fellow. His work with Brown and Hurtado on Zimmer’s Conjecture was recently presented at the Seminaire Bourbaki.
