Florencio Balboa Usabiaga, Ph.D.

Flatiron Research Fellow, Biophysical Modeling, CCB, Flatiron Institute

Florencio Balboa Usabiaga joined the foundation in 2017 as a member of the Biophysical Modeling Group. He is interested in the development of tools for fluctuating hydrodynamics and Brownian dynamics simulations. At the foundation, he works to extend these methods to explore relevant biophysical phenomena, such as the collective motion and hydrodynamics of particles in active media. He earned his Ph.D. in physics at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in Spain and comes to the foundation from the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University, where he was a postdoctoral associate.
