Gilles Francfort, Ph.D.

Professor, Mathematics at Université Paris XIII

Gilles Francfort (Engineer’s degree, Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, 1978; Ph.D., Stanford University, 1982) is Professor of Mathematics at Université Paris XIII and a Visiting Professor of Mathematics at New York University’s Courant Institute. A recipient of the French Academy of Science’s Prix Thématique Paul Doistau-Emile Blutet and former Senior Member of the Institut Universitaire de France, his research interests include the calculus of variations, solid mechanics, and applied analysis.
