Jiaoyang Huang is an incoming postdoctoral researcher in the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University. He completed his Ph.D. in mathematics at Harvard university under the supervision of Horng-Tzer Yau. Prior to that, he received his B.S. in mathematics from MIT.
Huang is interested in probability theory and its applications to problems from statistical physics, computer science and combinatorics. His thesis focuses on understanding the spectral statistics of sparse random graphs, particularly the Erdős–Rényi random graphs and the random d-regular graphs. Besides random graphs, he also studies interacting particle systems arising from mathematical physics using tools from stochastic analysis and representation theory, and proves they belong to the universality classes of the known asymptotic behaviors.
