Ken Van Tilburg, Ph.D.

Associate Research Scientist, Cosmology, CCA, Flatiron Institute

Ken Van Tilburg is an Associate Research Scientist in the Center for Computational Astrophysics with the Cosmology group. Ken earned his B.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics from MIT and his PhD. in Physics from Stanford University. He became a Postdoctoral Associate at the Center for Cosmology and Particle Physics at NYU in 2016. Then spent a year as a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of Santa Barbara in 2019, before joining CCA. He was also a member of the School of Natural Sciences at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton from 2016–2019. Ken is the recipient of the Paul Kirkpatrick Award (2013) for Outstanding Teaching of Physics to Undergraduates from Stanford, as well as the Leroy Apker Award Finalist (2011) for Outstanding Undergraduate Physics Achievement from the American Physical Society. He also won Joel Matthew Orloff Award (2011) for Most Outstanding Senior Thesis from MIT.
