Laura Long is an assistant scientist with the Simons Collaborations on the Global Brain (SCGB) and the Simons Collaboration on Plasticity and the Aging Brain (SCPAB). Before joining the Simons Foundation in 2020, Long completed her PhD in neurobiology and behavior at Columbia University, studying the neural mechanisms of visual word recognition using systems and computational approaches. While at Columbia, she led a variety of science outreach and advocacy projects. Before that, Long worked as a postbaccalaureate fellow at the National Institute for Child Health and Human Development and completed her B.A. in cognitive science at the University of Virginia.
