Center for Computational Mathematics

Our novel tools and software libraries bring large-scale modeling, simulation and data analysis within reach.

Many biological and physical systems involve chemicals flowing and interacting on surfaces. These animations illustrate computed nonlinear time-dependent PDE solutions for a two-species Turing system (top row) and the complex Ginzburg–Landau equation (bottom row), with high-order accuracy, using a fast direct solver developed at CCM by Dan Fortunato. About

Applied and computational mathematics play a critical role in many aspects of modern science and engineering, with new opportunities for discovery in virtually every discipline.

We create new mathematical approaches, algorithms and software to advance scientific research in multiple disciplines, often in collaboration with other centers at the Flatiron Institute.
