Math can reveal truths that are useful beyond the classroom. “You learn about having multiple ways to arrive at an answer,” explains Faith, a 16-year-old student of Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics, or BEAM. “You can turn a situation into an equation and then try to solve it.” BEAM currently serves more than 450 low-income students in New York City, and they plan to expand to Los Angeles in 2018. In this video, find out how BEAM empowers students to use math as a tool to solve problems inside and outside the classroom.
BEAM joined the Science Sandbox community of awardees in December 2016.
