Chern Medal Video: Masaki Kashiwara and 50 Years of Foundational Math

The 2018 Chern medal is awarded to Masaki Kashiwara for his outstanding and foundational contributions to algebraic analysis and representation theory sustained over a period of almost 50 years.

The Chern Medal is awarded every four years on the occasion of the International Congress of Mathematicians to an individual whose accomplishments warrant the highest level of recognition for outstanding achievements in the field of mathematics. All living, natural persons, regardless of age or vocation, shall be eligible for the Medal.

This video was presented at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Rio de Janeiro on August 4, 2018, organized by the International Mathematical Union.
