Simons Collaboration on the Global Brain Announces New Class of Undergraduate Research Fellows
Thirty-two talented undergraduate students will gain hands-on experience and contribute to neuroscience research as the newest class of the Simons Collaboration on the Global Brain (SCGB) Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program. This year’s class comprises 24 new fellows and eight returning fellows continuing their fellowships for a second year.
SURF provides funds for undergraduate research assistants to work in SCGB-funded laboratories during the academic year under the mentorship of postdoctoral fellows or doctoral students. The program aims to spark and sustain interest in systems and computational neuroscience among undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds underrepresented in neuroscience research.
In addition to financial support, the SCGB provides a computational boot camp to fellows and program certificates to fellows and mentors; facilitates community among fellows and mentors; and arranges an end-of-year research symposium for fellows to share their work.
