Bio

Michael Crawshaw joined the Center for Computational Mathematics as a Research Fellow in September, 2026.

His research focuses on optimization for machine learning, with the goal of developing theory that faithfully explains practice, and leveraging this theory to improve practical optimization efficiency. Michael completed a Ph.D. in Computer Science at George Mason University in 2026, and a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science from The Ohio State University in 2019.
