Jake Hall, Ph.D.
Director, Bioinformatics
Jake Hall is Director of Bioinformatics, a subteam within Informatics at the Simons Foundation. He leads a team that manages petabytes of genomics data across multiple autism and neuroscience research cohorts and programs. The team receives, stores, shares, and analyzes genetic data, and builds and maintains the bioinformatics pipelines used to analyze SPARK sequencing data. These pipelines support the return of results (RoR) to study participants who carry detectable pathogenic variants.
Hall joined the Foundation in 2018, after earning a Ph.D. in human genetics from Vanderbilt University, where he studied non-additive genetic contributions, such as epistatic interactions, to age-related macular degeneration. He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Next-Generation Healthcare at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he used multi-omic analysis to study Lyme disease and acne. Before leading the Bioinformatics team, he was a Bioinformatics Engineer on the former Data and Analytics team within Informatics.
