Cori Bargmann, Ph.D.

Cori Bargmann is the Torsten N. Wiesel Professor and head of the Lulu and Anthony Wang Laboratory of Neural Circuits and Behavior at Rockefeller University in New York City. Her highly cited research has uncovered the roles of genes in neural development and behavior.

She is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She has received numerous honors, including the Kavli Prize in neuroscience, the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences, the Gruber Neuroscience Prize and MIT’s Scolnick Prize. Bargmann was a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator from 1995 to 2016, and then head of science for the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative from 2016 to 2022. She co-chaired the National Institutes of Health committee that set goals and strategies for the U.S. Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative.
