Title: Mapping the microbiome by large-scale structure and function prediction

Abstract: The microbiome consists of the about 60% microbial cells in and around our body that give rise to 99% of the genes in our body. We are just beginning to understand the role of the human gut microbiome in numerous diseases such as type 1 diabetes, immune system disorders and digestive disorders such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. Here we take a structure-function perspective by running large-scale computational prediction of structures, functions and interactions of the proteins in these microbes to gain insights into disease mechanisms.
