Microbiologist Sally Warring aims to uncover the millions of tiny organisms lurking just beneath the surface of the city’s waters.
Most New Yorkers live completely unaware of the millions of organisms living all around them. And there’s a good reason for it: They can’t see them.
Sally Warring wants to change that. The New York City-based microbiologist started collecting and posting pictures of microbes online. The response? More than 50,000 followers on Instagram, and a new video series in partnership with the American Museum of Natural History.
In this video, hear from Warring on why these tiny organisms hold the potential to help us humans understand more about ourselves.
