Burak Şahinoğlu is a researcher at Los Alamos National Lab. As a member of It from Qubit, he was a postdoc at the Institute for Quantum Information and Matter, California Institute of Technology. Originally from Turkey, he obtained his M.S. from ETH Zürich and Ph.D. from the University of Vienna. His research interests span from quantum information to low/high energy physics. In particular, he is interested in quantum marginal problem, classification of quantum phases and, lately, renormalization of physical theories. He approaches the problems by employing representation theory, category theory, quantum information and tensor networks, and he tries to find connections to topology and geometry.
