Pach is a research advisor at the Rényi Institute in Budapest and head of the Laboratory of Combinatorial and Geometric Structures at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. His main fields of interest are discrete and computational geometry, convexity and combinatorics. He has written 300 research papers and three monographs. He is co-editor-in-chief of Discrete & Computational Geometry. He was elected a fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery in 2011, a member of the Academia Europaea in 2014, and a fellow of the American Mathematical Society in 2015. He was an invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Seoul in 2014 and will be the plenary speaker at the 2020 European Congress of Mathematics in Portorož, Slovenia.
