Lisa M. Brown, Ph.D.

Senior Data Scientist, Center for Computational Biology

Bio

Lisa joined the Center for Computational Biology in 2020. She is working on designing and implementing a pipeline for the registration, segmentation, tracking and analysis of the mechanisms in morphology and genetic expression in embryonic development.

Prior to joining, she was a research staff member at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center where she developed state-of-art computer vision systems using machine learning and robust real-time methods. She worked on spatio-temporal action detection using novel methods including adversarial training, sequential modeling, and motion from feature space. Her research spans a broad range of computer vision topics including self-calibration from scene context, pedestrian detection and counting, and visual search from attributes. She has over forty patents and more than seven thousand citations.

She has a Ph.D. in computer science from Columbia University where she did her thesis on Multi-modal Medical Image Registration, and a B.A from Johns Hopkins University in mathematical science.
