Owen Melia joined the Flatiron Institute in September 2025 as a Flatiron Research Fellow in the Center for Computational Mathematics (CCM). Owen researches direct PDE solvers with applications in scientific imaging and deep learning. Prior to joining the Institute, Owen received a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Chicago in August 2025. He received a B.S. in mathematics and economics from the University of Chicago in 2019.
