Robert Blackwell joined the Flatiron Institute in 2019 to provide support to researchers on numerical software design, organization and optimization. He holds a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Colorado Boulder, with a focus on computational biophysics and soft matter, giving him extensive experience in parallel computing, Monte Carlo, Molecular/Brownian dynamics, and various other numerical techniques. Prior to joining the institute, he held an Alexander von Humboldt postdoctoral fellowship to study the effects of cargo elasticity on cellular transport problems at Friedrich Alexander University, Erlangen-Nuremberg.
