Bio

S.M. Bargeen Alam Turzo’s dream for pioneering drug development to combat incurable diseases has started at a young age. To pursue his dream, Turzo relocated to the United States to understand the chemistry of biology. During his undergraduate years, he discovered his strength in computational chemistry and biology, which he pursued rigorously. This journey continued during his Ph.D. at The Ohio State University under Steffen Lindert’s guidance, where he advanced protein structure prediction by integrating native mass-spectrometry into Rosetta molecular modeling suite. Turzo’s expertise secured him an internship with our group during the summer of 2022, and subsequently, he became a Flatiron Research Fellow at the Simons Foundation in the summer of 2023 following the completion of his Ph.D. His current research focuses on method development and applications of cross-linked peptides, native mass-spectrometry data for molecular design, protein design with non-canonical amino acids and the incorporation of classical and quantum mechanics to such design problems.
