Anupam Anand Ojha, Ph.D.

Anupam Anand Ojha joined the Flatiron Institute in 2024 as a Flatiron Research Fellow at the Center for Computational Biology and Center for Computational Mathematics. Anand will work on developing and implementing multiscale simulations at the intersection of cryo-electron microscopy and machine learning to study protein-ligand and protein-protein interactions and model kinetic pathways involved in molecular recognition and signal transduction processes. His research aims to enhance understanding of complex biomolecular systems for accelerated drug discovery.

He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry with a specialization in Theoretical and Computational Biophysics from the University of California San Diego under the mentorship of Prof. Rommie E. Amaro and Prof. J. Andrew McCammon. His research focused on developing multiscale computational methods, including Brownian dynamics, enhanced molecular dynamics simulations, quantum mechanics, and machine learning approaches, to accelerate drug discovery and deepen biomolecular understanding.

Anand is recognized for his outstanding contributions to science, mentorship, and research excellence, including the Merck Research Award for Underrepresented Chemists of Color, Merkin Graduate Fellowship, Teddy Traylor Award, Distinguished Graduate Student Fellowship, Bonnie Reiss Carbon Neutrality Student Fellowship, Friends of the International Center Fellowship, Molecular Sciences Software Institute SEED Fellowship, Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship, and the INSPIRE Fellowship.
