Roberto Morán-Tovar, Ph.D.

Roberto Morán-Tovar is a Flatiron Research Fellow at the Center for Computational Biology. He earned his B.S. in Physics at the University of Los Andes in Colombia and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics at the University of Cologne in Germany. Combining concepts from statistical physics and biology, he aims to better understand information processing in biological systems. His current research focuses on the mechanisms, from the molecular to the systemic level, that the immune system uses to learn and adapt to threats the host faces. Beyond his research, he enjoys teaching, science communication, reflecting on the culture of the scientific world, and riding his road bike.
