Sheila Sagear, Ph.D.

Sheila Sagear joined the Center for Computational Astrophysics as a Flatiron Research Fellow in 2026. Her work focuses on investigating demographic trends in exoplanet populations throughout the Milky Way Galaxy, utilizing observational, computational, and statistical methods to characterize trends in planetary occurrence, radius, orbital dynamics, and properties of the host star and environment. She maintains a particular focus on the connection between planetary orbital dynamics (e.g. orbital eccentricities) and the broader Galactic dynamical context. Prior to joining CCA, Sheila earned her Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of Florida and her B.A. in Astronomy and Physics from Boston University.
