Robyn Sanderson, Ph.D.

Associate Research Scientist, Dynamics, CCA, Flatiron Institute

Robyn Sanderson is an associate research scientist in the Center for Computational Astrophysics and assistant professor of physics and astronomy at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on ways to infer the dark matter distribution in galaxies by studying the orbits of their stars. She completed her Ph.D. in physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2010 and spent three years as a postdoctoral researcher at the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute in the Netherlands. She held an NSF Astronomy and Astrophysics Postdoctoral Fellowship at Columbia University, New York University, and then the California Institute of Technology before joining the Flatiron Institute.
