The Simons Foundation Initiative on Computational Catalysis is a new initiative of the Flatiron Institute dedicated to the development and application of new computational techniques enabling the rational design of more efficient and/or more affordable catalysts. These techniques will possess the accuracy necessary for meaningful, quantitative predictions of fundamental catalytic chemical reactions, such as those underlying the transition away from a fossil fuel dependent economy with impacts in the energy, pharmaceutical, and transportation industries.
