Understanding the human brain is one of the greatest and most challenging scientific frontiers of our time. CCN’s mission is to develop models, principles and conceptual frameworks that deepen our knowledge of brain function — both in health and in disease.

CCN takes a systems neuroscience approach to these investigations, building models from experimental data that capture key features of neural circuits to glean insight into perception, cognition and behavior. This approach not only leads to more robust, model-driven experiments for investigating the brain’s ability to analyze large and complex streams of sensory data, it also spurs efforts by the machine learning community to develop technology inspired by the neurobiology of the brain.
