1938–2024

It is with great sadness that the Simons Foundation announces the death of its co-founder and chair emeritus, James Harris Simons, on May 10, 2024, at the age of 86, in New York City.

We know that many people have stories, messages and memories they would like to share about Jim Simons. Please send them to [email protected].

Jim loved mathematics, science research, and education. In lieu of gifts or flowers, the Simons family asks that well-wishers consider a donation to one of these groups; all in their own way are advancing the frontiers of mathematics and the basic sciences. Jim would have also been very happy for donations in his honor to go to any other organizations meaningful to the donor that promote mathematics, science research, and/or education.
