Barbara Sandhoefer, Ph.D.
Barbara Sandhoefer, Ph.D.’s websiteBarbara Sandhoefer is a member of the Tensor Networks Group, working with Garnet Chan at Princeton University. After obtaining the MASt from the University of Cambridge in high-energy physics and general relativity in 2004, Barbara received her Ph.D. in 2009 from the Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of Cologne (Germany). While she obtained her Ph.D. in quantum cosmology, Barbara pursued her first postdoctoral appointment with Frank Neese at the University of Bonn and, later, at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion in Mülheim, Germany. There, she worked on relativistic corrections for spectroscopic properties as part of the ORCA software package. She joined Garnet Chan’s group in 2013. Her research centers on the interplay of electron correlation and electron-phonon interactions. Current projects include studying the dynamics of the Hubbard-Holstein model as well as extending density-matrix embedding theory to electron-phonon coupled systems.
