Emery N. Brown is the Edward Hood Taplin Professor of Medical Engineering and Computational Neuroscience at MIT and the Warren M. Zapol Professor of Anaesthesia at Harvard Medical School. He is also a practicing anesthesiologist at Massachusetts General Hospital. His research focuses on the development of statistical methods and signal-processing algorithms for neuroscience data analysis.

His honors include a National Medal of Science, the Gruber Prize in Neuroscience, the Swartz Prize for Theoretical and Computational Neuroscience, the NIH Director’s Pioneer Award, and membership in the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Medicine.
