Hai Zhu, Ph.D.

Flatiron Research Fellow, CCM, Flatiron Institute

Hai earned a Ph.D. in Applied and Interdisciplinary Mathematics from the University of Michigan in 2021 and became a Postdoctoral Assistant Professor there in the fall of 2021, with Professor Shravan Veerapaneni as his mentor.

His main field of research interest is computational mathematics with a focus on numerical partial differential equations. Specifically, he develops accurate and efficient computational algorithms to solve various PDE boundary value problems using integral equation methods. Another considerable portion of Hai’s work looks at Stokes flow and how to optimize the fluid-structure interactions.

Hai earned a B.S. in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China and an M.S. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Washington, Seattle.
