Matthew Smart, Ph.D.

Matthew Smart joined the Center for Computational Biology in November 2022. He received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Toronto and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Waterloo. His research interests include self-organizing systems at various scales and statistical learning approaches. During his doctoral studies, Matthew worked on statistical physics models to study the collective transcription of interacting cell types.
