University of California, Davis

Plyfaa Suwanamalik-Murphy is an undergraduate at the University of California, Davis, majoring in cognitive science. Her research interests include scene viewing, human vision and search performance within naturalistic scenes. While at the University of California, Davis, Plyfaa has worked on projects related to visual cognition, cognitive neuroscience and auditory and visual perception. Recently, she has been working on a project investigating the perception of iridescence at the University of Oxford with Hannah Smithson and Shiwen Li, studying task-dependent manipulation of visual signals from real-life iridescent objects. Upon completion of her bachelor’s degree in cognitive science, Plyfaa intends to pursue a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology while also studying visual cognition. Through her research, Plyfaa’s goal is to positively impact society and improve other people’s lives. Whether directly or indirectly helping people, everything holds an impact. Adding to the field of cognition and perception can have positive effects on instigating change, and she wants to take the opportunity to learn and develop her research skills in her last year at the University of California, Davis.
