Rachel Zhang

Predoctoral Fellow, Stars and Compact Objects, CCA, Flatiron Institute

Rachel C. Zhang joined the Center for Computational Astrophysics (CCA) in January 2024 as a predoctoral fellow. She is interested in the formation and evolution of binaries in different environments and its implications for gravitational waves.

Zhang is a Ph.D. student at Northwestern University, where she studies binaries in dense environments such as globular clusters compared to the Galactic field. While at the CCA, she will focus on studying the formation of binary black holes in AGN disks. Zhang received a B.S. in physics and minor in computer science from MIT.
