David Saintillan is a Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of California San Diego. He received a B.S. in Engineering from Ecole Polytechnique, France, in 2001, and an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University in 2003 and 2006. Before joining UCSD, he worked as a Junior Research Scientist at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences of New York University from 2006 to 2008, and as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 2008 to 2013. His research focuses on the mathematical modeling and numerical simulation of complex fluids, soft active matter, and biophysical systems. He currently serves as a Member-at-Large on the Executive Committee of APS Division of Fluid Dynamics, and on the editorial boards of Physical Review Fluids and Physical Review X.
