Most New Yorkers live completely unaware of the millions of organisms living all around them. And there’s a good reason for it: They can’t see them.

Sally Warring wants to change that. The New York City-based microbiologist started collecting and posting pictures of microbes online. The response? More than 50,000 followers on Instagram, and a new video series in partnership with the American Museum of Natural History.
