Cloud Systems Team

The Cloud Systems Team is responsible for building and maintaining the cloud infrastructure used by other teams in the group, as well as the web development team in the foundation’s Business IT group. The team works with developers to determine infrastructure requirements and automate software deployment processes. They use many open source tools for deploying and administering Linux virtual machines and databases that host internal and external applications. The team also works with internal and external researchers to manage and transfer large genomics data sets. They also manage backups and work with third-parties who perform security audits on applications and servers.

Technologies used by the Cloud Systems Team include AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda), Ansible, Ubuntu, Jenkins, Globus and Python.
