Efua (Maame) Forson

Harvard University

Efua (Maame) Forson is a rising junior at Harvard University studying cognitive neuroscience and evolutionary psychology with a secondary in global health and health studies, as well as a citation in Twi. She co-founded the Association of Ghanaian Students with four of her fellow Twi classmates after realizing there needed to be an organization to give Ghanaian students a safe place that celebrates their culture, while also bridging the gap between undergraduate and graduate Ghanaian students at Harvard. She is now the inclusivity chair of the organization. She is also the social chair of Keychange, a Black acapella group. She works at the local church as a nursery assistant and babysits part-time for local families as well. She will be shadowing a pediatric doctor this upcoming fall, while also doing neuroscience research with SURFiN. She hopes to take a gap year when she graduates to work at Westchester Medical Center, before going back to school for an advanced bachelor’s degree in nursing and a subsequent Master of Science in nursing, with the goal of becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner.
